It started with a verse long ago....

After our beautiful daughter was born 22 years ago, we "decided" that we would have another child within a couple of years. After 4 years of prayers and tears, a close friend of mine announced to our group of friends that she was expecting her third child, which was unexpected for their family. I was so happy for them, but so distraught for myself.

I went home that evening and opened my Bible. The verse I found was Psalm 113:9, "He makes the barren woman abide in the house as a joyful mother of many children." Now, the versions I have recently found of this verse don't include the word "many," but I guarantee you that the verse I read back then certainly did! I know this because I remember not only feeling such a peace that God was going to bring us our next child, but also being perplexed as to how "many" could possibly apply to us.

Our son, Stephen, came to us just months later as a newborn from the beautiful sacrifice of his wonderful birthmother. He is a treasure, and truly an exceptional young man, whom we love dearly.

So, then we had our two children and were done! Except that ten years later we decided that we weren't done, and the Lord drew our hearts to a far away land called, "Taiwan". Several months later Jason, who was 22 months old at the time, came home. This adorable, affectionate, and hilariously funny little boy stole our hearts right away! There is never a dull moment with our Jason around!

So, then we were done! Except that six years later the Lord stirred our hearts again, this time towards China and a beautiful little 7 year old girl, named Annie, who was waiting for us there. But wait! A couple of weeks later we saw a picture of this happy, adorable little guy named Wyatt, who was 4, and we knew he was our son as well! We are hoping to travel in January to bring Wyatt and Annie home, and then the real fun begins!

So, now that wonderful verse finally makes sense. We have truly been blessed by God with these many children that He has given us!
