Free Day
Tuesday was official adoption day for Wyatt, and then today we had a "Free Day", meaning no appointments or guided site seeing. It is pretty cold here, and although we ventured out to the nearby Confucius Temple and market yesterday, we decided to go for staying indoors today. We took a taxi to a mall in a different part of Nanjing that has a kid's play center where you pay to get in, but have in and out privileges for the day. The kids had a blast, as long as they stayed away from each other! They are both great individually, but not so great together at this point. I just keep reminding myself that I can't expect them to adore each other given the fact that they just met, and are now having to spend 24/7 together sharing their new Mommy's attention. I know this is going to go against what most parents would do, but I actually have encouraged Annie to give it back to Wyatt when he gets in her face. I think she appreciated the fact that I didn't expect her to just take it, or favor him, and she has done a bit better since we started doing this. Really Wyatt doesn't seem to mind this anyways. He really doesn't seem that aggressive, just all boy. Annie even engaged him in a fun wrestle on the floor this morning.
Tomorrow we get to go visit the orphanage, and hopefully meet Wyatt's foster mother, who we found out he was with for two years! It must be terribly hard for her to lose him! I want to make sure to keep in touch and send updates to her.
Then on Friday we leave for Guangzhou!!!

The play land looks so fun! When you get home, Jason can take over wrestling with Wyatt. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that Jase would win, though!!
